2024 St. John Feast Day Novena Programme

DAYS PRAYER TOPIC FOR REFLECTIONS SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE PRAYER INTENTION/ACTION POINT
DAY 1 The prophecy of the birth of St. John the Baptist. Lk. 1:12-15 Pray for the grace of God to alleviate all your fears, anxieties and doubts that you may find joy and delight in the Lord. (Through the intercession of St. John, the Baptist may God answer our prayers and fill us with great joy)
DAY 2 The divine roles of Zechariah and Elizabeth in the life of St. John the Baptist Lk. 1:12-15 Exodus 20;12 & Eph. 6:2-3 Honour your father and mother (deceased or living). Commit them to the Lord. Thank God for their lives and the roles they have played in your life. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for all parents both the living and the dead that they may find rest in the Lord)
DAY 3 What kind of child will he (John the Baptist) be? Luke 1:66-67 Pray for all infants and children, that they may grow in the knowledge, wisdom and stature of the Lord. May the hopes of parents in their children be fulfilled in the Lord. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for all children that God�s grace will accompany them in their life journey)
DAY 4 Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world John 1:29-31 Pray admitting your guilt, weaknesses, shortcomings, and faults. Ask Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb to purge you of all your sins and defilements and create in you a clean heart. (May our patron St. John the Baptist intercede for us to approach humbly and courageously God�s throne of mercy).
DAY 5 He must increase but I must decrease John 3:30-35 Pray for the grace of humility, submissiveness and selflessness in your service to God and mankind. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for us to be humble and selfless witnesses of Christ in all our endeavours).
DAY 6 John the Baptist came to bear fruits that befits Jesus, the Light of God�s kingdom Galatians 5:16-24 Pray to Jesus to let His light shine forth in your life and help you bear fruits that befits the kingdom of God. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for us to bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit).
DAY 7 Jesus the Light shines in the darkness and darkness has not overcome it John 1:9 & 8:12 Pray for those who perpetrate evil or are inclined to do evil that they may come to experience Jesus the Light and turn away from their evil and wicked ways. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for our nation; that all Ghanaians may resist evil in all forms and attain the peace we desire for our homeland, Ghana).
DAY 8 John the Baptist; herald of justice and truth Mark 6:14-29 Pray for God�s strength to always proclaim the truth in whatever task the Lord has entrusted to you. May He defend you from your adversaries, physical assaults and spiritual forces that may prevail on you. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for us to walk in the light of God�s Word in our aspirations, ambitions and quest for socio-economic gains and political powers/offices)
DAY 9 You never walk alone. Jesus is your shepherd and guide Psalm 23 (i) Pray for the grace to always experience Jesus in your personal life and cast your burdens unto him; for he cares for you. (ii) Pray also for the peace of Ghana as we go to the poll in December to elect new a President for the nation. (May St. John the Baptist intercede for us to always be true friends of Jesus, our Good Shepherd and may Jesus the Good Shepherd lead Ghana to greener pasture). (iii) End with a Thanksgiving Prayer (Thank God for his grace and mercy that has brought you thus far)
