Brig. Gen. Joseph Saakuur Bapule

Biography

Brigadier General Joseph Saakuur Bapule was born on the 28th of April 1951 in Nandom, Upper West Region, Ghana. He was initiated in the Order on February 2, 2002, exemplified into the 2nd &3rd, 4th and 5th Degrees of the Order. He has held various positions in the Order from the Commandery level President, Holy Cross #492, Tamale from 2009 -2011, becoming the Commander of the 13th District Commandery, Tamale from December 2017 to 2020.

Brigadier General Joseph Saakuur Bapule is currently the President of Tamale Grand Commandery.

His educational background cuts across various disciplines. He obtained M.A. in Development Economics, ISVE, Napoli, Italy (Nov. 1982 – April 1983 & Nov. 1988 – April 1989) B. A. (Hons) Economics with Sociology: University of Ghana, Legon (October 1973 – June 1976) Ordinary Level: Navrongo Secondary School, Navrongo (1966 -1971) and Advanced Level: Navrongo Secondary, Navrongo (1971 – 1973)

He holds membership in these professional bodies & associations Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) and the National Seed Trade of Ghana (NASTAG)

He worked at various institutions including the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), CSIR- Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) and the Ministry of Trade and Tourism

Brigadier General Bakule has an active Church life as a Member of the following committees: Parish Pastoral Council, St. Monica Parish, Nyankpala, Parish Development/Projects Committee, Parish Harvest Committee, Parish Finance Committee, Parish Liturgical Committee and a Lector

In recognition of his meritorious services to St. Monica Parish, Nyankpala, Northern Region, he was given a Papal Award in 2006 during the centenary celebration of the Catholic Church in the northern part of Ghana.

He is married with four children and loves reading and swimming.
