Brig. Gen. Magnus Innocent Der

Biography

Brigadier General Magnus-Innocent Der was initiated into the St Cecilia Commandery # 517 of the KSJI on the 21st of November 2009. Exemplified into the 2nd & 3rd Degrees on the 22nd of August 2010 in Jirapa, the 4th Degree on the 20th of November 2011 in Tamale and the 5th Degree on the 24th of June 2023 at Wa.

He later transferred to the Holy Family commandery #746, Hamile on the 22nd May 2022. At the Local Commandery level, he held the following offices in the St Cecilia Commandery # 517: Trustee, 1st Vice President and Commandery President. At the level of the Grand Commandery, he served as Aide-de-camp to the Tamale Grand President and Grand Secretary to the Tamale Grand Commandery.

Upon the split of the Tamale Grand into the Tamale Grand and Wa Grand Commanderies, he served as the 1st Grand Secretary of the Wa Grand Commandery, then as Grand 2nd Vice President and Grand 1st Vice President. He served as the Convener of the Wa Grand Military Committee. With the split of the erstwhile Wa Grand Commandery into the Wa North and Wa South Grand Commanderies, he is currently serving as the 1st Grand President of the Wa North Grand Commandery.

He had previously also served as a member of the Supreme Subordinate Military Committee, as the Secretary to the Wa Sub Chapter of the Archbishop William Thomas Porter Chapter of Chevaliers, 2nd Vice Grand Master and 1st Vice Grandmaster of the Peter Cardinal Porekuu Dery Chapter of Chevaliers, Wa.

Brig General Magnus- Innocent Der is a product of the University of Cape Coast where he pursued a B. A in French/English and a Diploma in Education. After the University programme, he worked with the Ghana Education Service at Bongo Senior Secondary School, he went to the Emmaus Centre, Katikamu, Uganda, where he read the School of Evangelization Course. He worked at Fort Portal in Uganda as a Pastoral Agent and Lay Evangelizer and in Vienna, Austria where he served as a staff at the Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Base as a lay missionary/Evangelizer.

He later went to Rome, Italy to pursue a degree programme in Cathechetics and Religious Sciences at the Pontificia Universitas Urbaniana -Rome, and later at the Pontificia Studiorum Universitas Salesiana -Rome where he pursued a programme in Sciences of Social Communication.

He again pursued a Master’s Programme at the University of Dijon in France and upon his return to Ghana, was appointed as Headmaster to start the Loggu Community Day Senior High School, later transferred to Ullo Senior High School as Headmaster and is currently the Headmaster of to Nandom Senior High School. He is also the Upper West Regional Chairman of CHASS (Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools)

Brig General Der is married to Sister Doreen Amisore and blessed with three children. He served as the Laity Council Secretary and later Chairman of the St Andrew’s Cathedral Parish, the Diocesan Laity Council.

H also served as the Pastoral Council Secretary of the St. Andrews Cathedral Parish, a Catechist by training, served as the Diocesan Chairman of the C.Y.O and the Diocesan Leader of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Catholic Diocese of Wa.

He also served as the National Leader of the National Outreach Ministry of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I am a sports person and I play volleyball, and basketball and have a black belt in Taekwondo.
