Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani
Supreme Subordinate Ladies' Auxiliary 1st Vice President
Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani has been in the order of the Knights and Ladies of St. John International for 32 years. She was initiated on Saturday, 9th November 1991 at Our Lady of Mercy Ladies Auxiliary 340, Tema and became the 1st Vice President in 1996. She was elected the Subordinate President in 2000 and served for 4 years. She produced the 1st cloth for Our Lady of Mercy Ladies Auxiliary 340, Tema and produced an educational booklet on initiation. She also encourages more sisters to further their studies.
She served as the Financial Secretary, 2nd Vice President and a 1st Trustee at the District level. At the Grand Level, she served 4 years as a Recording and Corresponding Secretary, 4 years as 2nd Vice President, 2years as 1st Vice President, the 1st Grand President of the Accra East Grand Ladies Auxiliary and is currently one of the past Grand Presidents. Noble Sister also served as a convener for the Constitution and Ritual Committee from 2007 to 2013. She served on a committee to design the Marian cloth and the Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary President uniform.
She was the Recording and Corresponding Secretary from 2011 to 2013, 2015 to 2019 and 2nd Vice President Auxiliary from 2019 to 2023. Currently, she is now the 1st Vice President of the Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary.
In her education and professional life, Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani is a product of Wesley Girls Senior High School in Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok and GIMPA in Green Hill, Ghana. She worked with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as an Assistant Computer Programmer and System Analyst and was transferred to the Operations Department as a Branch Manager after her EMBA at GIMPA until her retirement in December 2012.
She has always had a passion for designing beautiful clothing and started making her clothing with needles at the age of fifteen and has established a company called WISE-UP alongside training, consultancy and counselling. She sews beautiful clothing for the public at a cost.
At Church, she is the immediate past chairperson of St. Francis of Assisi Rectory, Afienya as well as the Rep for the Friday group. She encourages women and the youth to create wealth using their hobbies and talents and has assisted some women in starting tabletop trading. She formed the Our Lady of Mercy Talented Youth Club at Our Lady of Mercy Parish where the youth were educated on the catholic faith and how to turn away from the various vices.
She has also formed the Franciscan Angels at St. Francis of Assisi Rectory at Afienya. The Franciscan Angels learn how to make beads, bags and bow ties as well as partaking in choreography and modeling occasionally.
To understand the catholic faith better, since she was a Methodist before marriage, she joined a priest to study a three-year sandwich course in Theology at the St. Peters Regional Seminary, Pedu. She also served as an Arch-Diocesan counsellor together with her late Husband.
In her community Life, Noble Sister Asomani has been giving lectures in collaboration with the Youth Center to final-year students around Afienya and its surroundings to learn a trade after school. She also raised funds for three needy homes in Tema namely the St. Vincent de Paul Aged Home, Child Protection Center and House of St. Francis (for Drug Addicts).
Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani’s love for the church, Knights and Ladies of St. John International and the community as a whole has made her learn a lot from both brothers and sisters and from people she has worked with in the various offices she has held and all the committees she has served on.
Noble Sister Emma Ethel Asomani is a mother with 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
