NS Dame Modesta Dery

Biography

Dame Noble Sister Modesta Dery is a native of Duong in Daffiama. Born in Jirapa on 24th September 1955 in Upper West Region and married with 4 Children.

Her Journey in the Order began in April 1978 when she was initiated into Our Lady of Perpetual Help Auxiliary # 343 Bolgatanga. She was later transferred to Holy Cross Auxiliary # 418, Tamale, and awarded Queen of Saints as a Noble Degree in 2005.  Rose through the Ranks as Auxiliary Trustee, Financial Secretary, 1st & 2nd Vice President and President from 2010 to 2014 and subsequently District Two President from 2014 to 2017.

Dame Noble Sister Modesta Dery is currently the Tamale Grand Ladies Auxiliary(TAGLA) President.

She has a certificate in the Women in Management Programme from the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration, GIMPA and a Diploma in Animal Health from the University of Ghana, Legon.

She is a proud old student of St Francis of Assisi Girls Secondary School where she obtained her GCE. “O” Level Certificate.

She worked as a Veterinary Officer for 23 years and as a Development Worker with World Vision Ghana for 15 years until she retired from active service.

In her church life, she is a foundation member of Sacred Heart Parish in Mampong – Akuapem where she served as a Lector, Usher, and President of the Christian Mothers Association.

A Foundation Member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Akuapem Ridge.

She worships at Holy Spirit Quasi Parish, Tamale, as one of the foundation members. Undertaking similar roles as in the other Parishes. In addition to being an Extraordinary Minister of the Communion, Sacristan and a Marriage Counselor.

Dame Noble Sister Modesta Dery was invested in a Papal Knight of St. Sylvester on 20th November 2022 for her lifelong lustrous service to God and Country.
